Oh fuck yeah more environmentally friendly ai
There is something deliciously funny about AI getting replaced by AI.
tl;dr: China yeeted a cheaper, faster, less environmental impact making, open source LLM model onto the market and US AI companies lost nearly 600 billions in value since yesterday.
Silicone Valley is having a meltdown.
And ChatGTP just lost its job to AI~.
#obvs still has its problems#but anything that lessens its impact on the environment is a step forward

Hey, I saw your post about Holstein cows and your knowledge about cows seems enciclopedical for someone who doesn't know shit about them like me. I was kind of wondering if you have an opinion about nelore cows. They are the most popular breed in my country, and I wanted to know more about them👉🏻👈🏻
YOU 🫵 are going to BRAZIL 🇧🇷
The Nelore is an absolutely outstanding cow. Able to withstand extreme heat, thick-skinned and insect resistant, intelligent yet easy to handle, it's hard to find a better beef breed for a humid, tropical environment.
Naturally, it's become popular all across South America, but the Nelore is the pride and joy of Brazil. Bred from a breed of zebuine cattle called the Ongole, the quality of the Nelore is what makes Brazil SUCH a powerhouse in meat production, globally. In fact, they've been the NUMBER ONE exporter of beef several years in a row!
Bask in the shape of this beautiful woman.

You'll probably first be drawn to the elegant dewlap and folds. This is how the cow manages to be so tolerant of high heat; lots of skin and lots of pores makes for more surface area to cool down quickly! Even her coloration helps-- white fur reflects the sun, but black skin underneath protects her from the rays that aren't.
If you're a bit more discerning, you might also be noticing her sculpted muscles, long legs, and humble udder. Nelore are bred to be healthy and athletic above all. They can survive just fine in a pasture year-round, very rarely needing medical care-- especially not when it comes to the care of their calves!
The Texas Longhorn (a breed which was developed in feral conditions) has an unassisted calving rate of 86%. The Nelore is 95%!
Lastly... do you see those bulges on the hump and on the rump? Those make for wonderful cuts of beef; Cupim and Picanha. Cupim is unique to Brazilian cuisine, but Picanha is sometimes called sirloin cap or rump cap in English.

I also really like the fact that sometimes they have gray bag markings under their eyes, so they look kinda like tired, wrinkly grandmas.

This is Yzma, to me.
As even better news, there's been a ton of progress in terms of lessening the ecological impact of cattle grazing since Lula unseated the weird fascist whose face I don't respect. Brazil produces a downright staggering amount of beef (only slightly less than the entire USA!) on a decreasing amount of land, swapping over to a HIGHLY efficient form of sustainable farming called ICLF, or Integrated Crop-Livestock-Forestry.
It's really inspiring, if you'd like to read about people doing good things in these troubled times.
If I have any beef with Nelores, it's simply that I do also wish for there to be more room for heritage breeds like the Indu-Brasil... but also, it's hard to condemn actual efficiency and real results, unlike the horror show that's going on with Holsteins. Nelores are a fantastic breed of wonderful, happy animals with very few problems. I must love them.

...just please appreciate this droopy thing too. Bloodhound ass Snoopy cow. my heart would break if we lost the Indu-Brasil </3

Every couple of weeks a post goes around arguing that "leather is good actually, and critics of leather are actually so much crueler to animals because microplastics (and also plant based fake leather sucks btw)."
Listen folks, you're spreading propoganda for one of the most polluting, cruelest (for the animals and the workers) industries out there, all for free!
Yeah plastic clothing is shitty and fake leather mostly sucks, but so does real leather. The secret third option here is to not buy any leather products at all. Real or fake.
Look for durable canvas boots instead of ones made of skin. Try tying yourself up in a rope harness rather than a leather one. Go for the cloth interior when you get that new car. And if you just have to have leather for whatever strange reasons you have, for the love of all animal life, please thrift it.
Just because something is a byproduct of another horrible industry doesn't lessen the impact its manufacture has on animals, workers, and the environment. The less animal products we buy, the harder it is for animal agriculture to be profitable, and that's the first step towards the abolition of specisism and animal exploitation entirely.

Why Vox's Redesign was Important to Selling His Trustworthy Image
Tumblrites who follow my blog will probably have heard me talk about Vox's image as a trustworthy individual. Despite being an Overlord in literal Hell, Vox has managed to convince the denizens of the inferno that he is someone to be trusted. This makes him a compelling opponent for Charlie because it's made clear that her subjects don't given her much respect, so it will be significantly harder for her to get them to back her and the hotel over someone they trust and support like Vox.
But on a meta level, I want to discuss why the changes made to Vox's pilot appearance were so necessary to sell the idea that he could convince the Sinner populace to put their trust in him. Because if the audience is coming away from Vox's scenes and going "how the fuck do people trust this guy?" that's a problem. It needs to be believable and that was why they had to make changes to Vox's original design.
To get started, these are the two images I will largely be referencing:
The first thing I am going to address is the color changes and the impact they have on his design. The biggest change they made to his design color-wise was replacing the black of his clothes with a soft blue. Blue is a color of trust and serenity. It's a calm color. You will often see it in hospitals, banks, dentist offices, etc. Places where they want you to be calm and feel safe. By making blue the main color of Vox's design, it creates this feeling of safety, especially in a world where everything is bathed in red, a color of alarm and danger. The neon details on his design were also shifted to be more blue and less green/mint and switched his eyebrows from neon to black. This creates less of a contrast, so they don't feel as harsh. They also reduced contrast by making his screen more blue tinted rather than gray and his frame dark gray instead of black. Another significant color change was changing the red from a stark bright red so a gentler more magenta toned red. All of these color changes and the diminished contrast serve to soften his design and make him appear more trustworthy and less threatening.
Now, I mentioned above that red is a color of alarm and danger, so why would Vox include it in his wardrobe if he wants people to trust him? My thought on this is that is it to blend at least slightly with the world around him. Hell is bathed in reds, so being dressed entirely head to toe in blue would create such an abrupt contrast that it would probably scare people off. Adopting a softer, more muted red allows him to still feel cohesive to the environment while also standing out.
The next thing I want to focus on is the design of his mouth in both forms. While not as clear in the pictures I have in this post, Vox's canon mouth is one block of color with a jagged line running through the middle. Pilot Vox highlights every single tooth from top to bottom, which makes him feel more vicious and dangerous. His mouth in the pilot is also that neon greenish-blue against black, rather than the blue on blue of the canon design. There's less contrast so it lessens the perceived threat. The pilot design's mouth is also smooth, one solid arc, while the canon designs has edges and a more firm shape. Now, you might think that this would make canon Vox's smile more threatening because of the sharper edges, and usually you would be right, but there's something bigger at play here. The smooth curve of Pilot Vox's mouth feels unnatural. It slips into uncanny valley territory. It makes him feel less human, which naturally sets off alarm bells. Our brain is telling us that this thing is trying to look human but it's not and that inherently is going to make us more defensive. The differences in the way they separate the teeth also contributes to this. By adding shape to the mouth, it feels more human-like, even when his face is literally a flat-screen.
This is a small change, but originally, the bottom of Vox's jacket was one single hem, similar to Alastor's. It was changed to a tailcoat, with the bottom cutting back and splitting into two distinct tails. Not only does this serve to differentiate his silhouette from Alastor's, but tailcoats signify respect, dignity, and sophistication, adding to his more charming appearance and making him have an air of authority.
The last thing I want to point out is his hypno eye. Pilot Vox's hypno eye is always active. You can see this if you check the Instagram images. This creates a sinister feel because of the harsh contrast between the black and that bright red. It also served to make him appear less human, once again dipping into that uncanny valley feeling. By having it only active sometimes, it serves as a way to control when you want him to feel sinister. In canon, it only activates when Vox is either using it to hypnotize the masses or when he is getting upset. These are moments where you want him to feel more dangerous, so they make sense. Otherwise, in canon, Vox's eyes are standard demon eyes, which lessens the uncanny valley effect.
Overall, these changes create a softer, less threatening image that you can understand why a person would trust. By changing some key colors and design elements that slipped too far into uncanny valley territory, they were able to create a design that felt safer and more charismatic while also maintaining the power and villainous energy of the character.

I honestly think one of my main beefs with certain types of environmentalists/green movements(aside from the ecofascism and ecoableism) is that for a lot of those people it's less about doing things that are scientifically proven to actually make a difference and more about their feelings and thus doing things that make them feel better/that feel right to them. They do care, but they aren't listening when people tell them what actually will help and what won't because it's really about their individual feelings and trying to wash their own individual bodies clean of the sins of capitalism. Which is probably part of why a lot of these movements fail. The work is harder than just buying and eating the right things, it's about pushing for large systemic changes which involves recognizing that animals are animals, death is a normal part of life, and humans are part of nature and thus a perfect world where we all never eat animals/animal products or interfere with ecosystems is impossible and even if it could be done would be ridiculously detrimental to the world as a whole.
It's the zoo argument all over again, or the shit Peta likes to spew about how we should let cows go free and that being dead is better than being in captivity. It's not about logic or reality or science or what these animals actually need, it's about feelings.
It feels right to let your cat outside because it's been normalized by our society. It feels bad to see animals eat other animals because we're so divorced from the process of creating food and just...really fucking weird about death that we can't reconcile our feelings of caring about animals while still taking care of them in captivity and yes even killing and eating them. It feels bad to see animals in captivity, either in zoos or stuff like indoor cats, even when that captivity is necessary and beneficial to the animals themselves and they enjoy being able to relax without having to spend every spare moment running from danger while trying to find food because you wouldn't like being stuck in a cage or your house all day.
It's not about what's actually good for animals or the planet, it's about what feels good and alleviates the crushing guilt that comes from capitalism forcing us be complicit in atrocities. But like we NEED to care about the real, physical ecosystem we live in, and sometimes that means confronting things that feel bad because focusing on what makes you feel good and fuzzy inside and saying fuck it to all the science isn't how you bring about actual change.
people getting upset at the idea that the way to stop your cat from killing wild animals is to keep them inside is the progressive version of pro-life assholes getting mad when you point out the real way to lower abortion rates is to give people comprehensive sex ed and easy access to birth control
you have no idea how many leftist environmentalist vegan types I know who have a cat and let it outside and get very fucking upset if you point out that they're being hypocritical and that keeping their cat inside will do more good for the environment faster and sooner than giving up meat or single use plastics, and also if they care so much about animal welfare maybe they should recognize that letting their cat outside is actively harming it and vastly increasing the chances of it getting sick, injured, and/or dying young
I cannot fathom the level denial it takes to get people to think like this but it's genuinely fucking infuriating and makes me want to tear apart a brick wall with my bare hands
#I do actually think this is why these people also get super hostile when you point out that their lifestyle actually isn't possible#for some people or isn't doing the good they think it is#they see attacks on their actions as an attack on the weird punishment to cure my guilt thing they have going on#it's a bad coping mechanism and it helps no one#you can be vegan or vegetarian and do things to lessen your personal impact on the environment#and still be normal about the circle of life and listen to science#guilt is not a good motivator you have to genuinely want change#and like the doomsday ass way some of them get#where it's like 'humans are a disease it's good if we all die off the world would be better without it'#like...you're just putting a fucked up bandaid on your guilt#and it's helping exactly no one

and so the desert drinks its fill
words: 1.3k
characters: Grian, GoodTimesWithScar
summary: Grian and Scar and how they avenge themselves against the Red King.
additional tags: canon-typical violence, descriptions of being burned alive, character death (with respawn mechanic)
(written for round 3 of soul searching for @mcyt-soulmate-sweepstakes !!)
***
There is a certain enduring beauty to the desert, this dry and arid landscape of shifting sand dunes and pale cloudless skies and cacti that cling stubbornly to the moisture-deprived ground. It is unforgiving and uncaring, the sun the singular constant audience member perched in the bloodless sky. It is an environment that will remain for years, centuries even, indifferent to the struggles that live and die across its rippling golden surface.
But you aren't thinking of the above-ground scenery—no, your thoughts centre around what lies beneath: The plethora of explosives you planted in a field of sand, riddling holes in the ever-shifting ground to cram full of TNT, your seeds of destruction that you can only hope will bloom into vicious flowers of victory. You toiled for hours over that plot of burning land under the omnipresent eye of the sun, sweat coating your skin, shovel in hand and vengeance in mind. As you continue to scan the landscape, you spot your enemies approaching over the horizon, red banners stark against the pale yellow background, and you think Now.
It never rains in the desert—and never will—but a peal of thunder echos across the open sun-burnt landscape, earsplitting and earthshattering, an avalanche of cacophonous noise. It's not a thunder made by natural means—no; it was made by yourself, from those hundreds of TNT blocks you buried in the sand, hundreds of pockets of detonation unfurled in rapid succession.
Everything the light touches is ours, you once said, and what have you done about that so far? The desert has become home to an insurmountable measure of death and destruction. You tore open a gaping wound across the once-pristine landscape, you built a beautiful, towering fortress of sandstone and wood that gleamed under the light of the morning sun, only to raze it to the ground. And for what? You have lost far more than you have ever gained.
It is in the wake of your trap uselessly rending the desert in half that your first life is lost. A lever flipped at the wrong moment, your feet overtop the wrong stretch of sand, and you are falling, falling. You do not feel the jarring impact of your body striking hard ground, the would-be instant splintering of your bones. Instead, the lava that lines the bottom of the trap catches you, softens your fall, embraces you like a partner welcoming you home.
And it hurts.
After spending hours in the desert, in the shimmering, stifling dryness and the glare of sunlight, you thought you knew heat, you thought you had become used to it. But the heat of liquid rock burns more than any day spent in the scorching caress of the desert. It is not a slow, gradual sort of pain; it is instant and all-consuming—an initial flare of what your brain tricks you into thinking is a freezing cold, then the burning, panicked sensation of every pain receptor in your body lighting up at once. It's a red-hot iron dragging down the entirety of your nervous system, grating against the inside of your skin, boiling the blood in your veins and arteries. It's the type of pain where you would claw your own skin off if it meant there was even the smallest chance that doing so would lessen your agony.
You open your mouth to scream, to try release the soul-rending pain that builds and compounds inside you, and lava flows eagerly down your throat. You are incandescence; you are incineration; you are a piece of kindling caught in the heart of a blazing fire. Soon, all you know is how it feels to burn.
The dunes of sand are soaked with blood, streams of red trickling across dusty yellow like the webbings of capillaries right under the surface of skin, the most moisture the desert has ever experienced. Yet it still is not sated. The sand stretches endlessly downwards, millions upon millions of rough-edged pinpoint grains, filled with pockets of air, and the desert greedily lap up whatever liquid drips down into its depths. It is possible that the desert's thirst will never be assuaged.
You spent ages hunting down the Red King, searching for him across forest and plains and the uneven elevation of mountains. Days and nights went past, the sun rising and falling over the horizon, and now, finally, you've cornered him in his very own base, his crops trampled, his fortress walls breached.
The stage is set: You and the King face each other, his sword and shield in hand, his allies gone from his side. What is a monarch without his people to protect him? Your smile is wide and sharp and uninhibited, straining at the edges of your face. Your heart races, your blood vessels are flooded with adrenaline, yet your hands on your weapons are steady and sure. Is that trepidation you see in the King's eyes? Is that fear? You hope it is.
The sound of your sword striking the King's armour rings throughout the air, a harsh, metallic grating as you gouge deep lines in the material of his chest plate. He retreats, blocks your next attack with his shield, and you press forward, refusing to give him time to regroup or recover. You need to see him dead, you need him to suffer for everything he's done to you, everything he's taken from you.
Despite your best efforts, he manages to put some distance between you and himself, so you switch out your sword for your bow. The handle fits in your palm like a well-remembered story, the weight familiar as an old friend. You land a shot and miss the other—but you have your enemy on the run. Blood dripping from the wounds that decorate his body, he flees you, and you know that you can't let him go; you need to end this right now. You raise your bow once again, the sound of your pulse in your ears drowning out everything else around you, your gaze locked on the unprotected back of the King's neck.
Aim—breathe—fire.
Your arrow is loosed and flies straight and true, cutting effortlessly through the air like a burning comet, and plunges directly into his spinal column. Skin and flesh and blood give way under the sharp arrowhead like paper to a burning flame, and the Red King dies—he dies a coward with his back turned, his body dissolving into white mist, his possessions spilling across the ground of his own base. The King's death is not the first, and it certainly won't be the last—yet his passing feels like some sort of ending, the final empty page of a book, the drop of a curtain over a vacant, expended stage. The Red King's hand soon meets a similar fate—one of your arrows to his chest relinquishes him of his last life.
And finally, it's over.
You are far away from your desolated home of the desert. Water pools in the dirt, a cool breeze runs fingers through your hair, the grass is a vibrant green under your feet—yet the sun is still there, that silent burning eye. It watches you still, bearing witness to the aftermath of your victory. Do you feel relief at your vanquishment? Do you feel that the wrongs done to you have been repaid in full? Or do you feel nothing, just the hollow knowledge that there is still more to come after this?
Your breathless laughter floats upwards to hang in the sky like the crows that wheel over a battlefield, drawn in by the scent of carrion. There are grains of sand embedded in your soles, blood staining your hands, and the remaining people around you all cry your name.
Kingslayer.

Species: Monocotreed Homeplanet: Billaphyll Life-Span: 100 - 130 Habitat: Swamps, Marshes, Bogs Diet: Photosynthesis Breeding: Sexual Reproduction
Sexual Dimorphism: Male Monocotreeds have much longer head flowers, oftening draping down the sides of their body/neck. Female Monocotreeds are often limited to having the base petals along their head. Children are born with limited petals as well, and can grow more later in life depending on their gender.
Behaviour/Bio: Monocotreed come from a rather warm and humid planet filled with four other plant-based species, the others being the Clyti, Crassulent, Mariconariales and Remonifera. The Monocotreed take up the wetland regions of the planet, which are the cooler areas, but still rather tepid, with watery terrain that is not easily traversable.
The Monocotreed themselves are considered the most relaxed out of the species of the planet, often having a chilled tone to their mannerisms as they prefer to live the simple calm life, many seen half in the water as they dig their root feet into the rich soil underneath, with their under bodies and head soak in sunlight. They tend to live in large groups, particularly family units, with many of the older folks always looking out for younger members, especially kits.
Despite their large sizes, along with looking like predatory felines, Monocotreeds live rather passive lifestyles, and prefer to abandon any conflict, one of the many reasons their main ability revolves around halting force rather than joining it. They also evolved their pillow-like tails to deal with storms in the region, able to keep themselves and others safe from debris like fallen trees. They get rather protective around their young because of this, as little ones can hardly defend themselves. Most who meet the species find themselves enjoying their company due to their pleasant behaviours, though some do note that they are kind of lazy too.
Abilities:
Fluff Expansion - With their tails, they are able to expand the fluff of it to a massive and dense size, able to be used as a pillow of sorts, either to catch people or objects, or to greatly lessen the impact of a strong force, whether that be an attack, or something rapidly rolling fast down a hill. Their tails move in a whip like manner, and can be used to act quickly.
Prehensile Tail/Tail Length - They often tend to use their tails like extra limbs, and can carry things by wrapping their tails around items or people. They can also stretch the length of their tail a certain amount, and some can train themselves to stretch further than the average member can.
Plant Physiology - They are entirely a plant based lifeform, having root-based legs, petals across their body, and typha styled tails.. They have many traits that of a plant, and it benefits them when living in natural environments.
Lock Jaw/Bite Force - They have thorn-like teeth that can dig into rough skin or even wood, able to lock their jaws to keep a good grip and can be hard to throw off. In some cases they have been known to yank away and leave their thorn-like teeth in people or objects.
Water Cleansing/Absorbing - Their tails can absorb a lot of water like a sponge and carry it around, along with being able to take in water to cleanse and make safe for drinking, often discarding the unwanted elements. Though this obviously can’t work on every substance.
Regeneration - Because of their plant biology, they are able to regenerate at a rapid speed. They can speed up the process even faster by absorbing water or sunlight.
Sense Of Smell - They have an acute sense of smell that allows them to detect many things, whether they be close up or far away, able to pick up scents through other smells, including many of the grosser elements of their swamps.
Vibration Sensing - Their rooted feet and little whiskers on their faces are designed to pick up even the most subtle of vibrations, able to detect nearby people before they might be too close.
Bug Repellent - They are able to produce an aroma that repels many bugs, mostly designed to keep pests away from them, but many insect-based aliens have reported feeling unwell when being around the scent themselves. People have described it as being an overwhelming peppermint odour.
Weaknesses: The monocotreed do not have eyes, despite the linings on their face. They rely on their other senses, especially smell, to guide them around. Due to living primarily in wetland regions, they require a lot of water to survive, and don’t do well in dry environments. Fire and ice are two elements they do not deal well with. Unnatural toxins can harm them, along with heavy enough pollution. Pulling on the whiskers can disorient them.

Talking therapy with the dragon riders
what i think they would want to/ need to cover in therapy
Hiccup: his eventual position of the chief, self- esteem issues. it would probably be more effective to use CBT techniques in drawing parallels with his leadership within the riders and the leadership he would have to do as chief. the aim is for him to prove to himself that he is able that he is able to lead. possibly also more general self-esteem issues, reconstructing and challenging his idea of what a Viking is/must be. helping him come to terms with the fact that he will never be his father, and the fact that he can still be a strong Viking chief despite this.
Astrid: vigilance and independence. relaxation techniques similar to those used in anger management that she can then use to help her live in the moment and relax, instead of constantly thinking about danger and protecting those she cares about. also, getting to the cause of her hyper- independence. using past evidence of how others, especially hiccup, actually have reacted to her needing help. comparing that to her expected response, show how this fear of depending on someone is unfounded.
FIshlegs: insecurity. possibly a reconstruction of what he views as strong, encouraging him to view his intelligence as mental fortitude, similar to hiccup, helping hm understand that he does not need to change how he is to be loved, respected, etc.
Snotlout: oh boy, this is a big one. starting with his insecurities, getting him to understand his fears and insecurities. he most likely will struggle to admit that he has these insecurities. after that, looking at how they effect others around him. a very important step would be deconstructing the idea of his father in his head, in order to lessen the need for acceptance. helping him come to the realisation that he will never get the validation he needs from his dad, and helping him find that validation on someone who can give it to him (e.g. the other riders) and accept that he can be a good, strong, competent, proud Viking without his father's validation. extensive techniques to avoid dips in self esteem - relaxation techniques, positive self-talk, reaching out to others. coming to an understanding of what he can do/control and what he cannot and should not try to. this would absolutely take the longest because of how deep self-deprecation, insecurity and outside validation are embedded in his world-view.
The Twins as a unit: i'm not sure on this one. most likely they have underlying issues with acceptance, struggling to both be themselves and fit in. likely some shared self-esteem issues over their place as 'the tricksters' and how that casts them as liabilities. but overall i'm not really sure. if anyone actually reads this who has also watched the httyd series if you outlined the issues they deal with i could work off of that i'm just coming up dry rn.
Heather: possibly working of anger issues, using the method of finding the trigger of her anger, teaching her relaxation techniques and then role-playing triggering situations in a safe and controlled environment. talking through her trauma and loneliness, assessing how it effects her everyday life and how she treats others. unpacking what family means to her.
Dagur: the expectation put on him to be violent at a young age. much of this work would be building off of the work he does himself during his redemption arc - unpacking why he felt the need to be violent, helping him with relaxation when he feels angry or wronged, encouraging him to find a way to help those he has wronged in the past. unpacking possible fears of his impact on the world being more negative than positive, or fears that his morals are unsalvageable and he will always be evil deep down.
I can do more characters if anyone actually likes this.

10 Tips for Coping w/ PMDD
But first, what is PMDD?
~ Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) that includes physical & behavioral symptoms that typically resolve with the onset of menstruation.

1. Dealing with depression - focus on distraction, clean your space, watch a movie, try to stay out of your own head for the time being.
2. Dealing with anxiety - do whatever you need to do to feel safe, just be sure to communicate with those around you, for example sometimes I lock myself in my closet for a bit. Doesn't have to be that extreme, do what works for you.
3. Dealing with insomnia - work out just before resting, turn off all devices at minimum an hour before you go to bed, try drinking tea, and avoid caffeine. also know that laying awake in bed is better than staying up active, it's better to get some sort of rest than none at all even if you're not asleep.
4. Dealing with irritability - journal to find the root of what's frustrating you, or if it's too upsetting, focus on distraction again. Get out of your environment for a few minutes, give yourself space to breath and time to react while heightened.
5. Dealing with brain fog - drink lots of water and get lots of fresh air, and write notes to help aid your memory. Make limited plans, or plans for the future, while dealing with episodes and remind yourself that it's okay to take breaks and come back.
6. Dealing with pain - warm baths, and practicing low impact movement like yoga, walking, dancing, or swimming can help. Also experiment with what sort of diet helps minimize bloating for you (avoiding inflammatory foods and finding nutrient dense foods you enjoy is a good place to start). I highly recommend turmeric tea for lessening bloating and increasing joy, here's my recipe -
Turmeric Tea
+ 2-3 tsp turmeric powder
+ a dash of black pepper
+ 1 tbsp lemon juice
+ agave to taste
+ 1 cup of green tea
+ separate cup of ice
= add ingredients to the cup of ice in the order listed above, stir, and enjoy!
7. Dealing with distorted self image - challenge cognitive dissonance within yourself, point out inconsistencies and remind yourself of your worth. I promise you, you are valuable and worth it.
8. Dealing with impulsivity - move through the impulse rather than act on it, sit with the discomfort of holding back and focus on something else, do not allow your mind to spiral closer towards the impulsive decision, allow yourself to find comfort in the resistance.
9. Dealing with suicidal ideation - focus on sensory awareness and distraction, as well as the gray areas of life rather than the extremes you may feel are weighing you down. Hold an ice cube until it melts, lay on the ground and stare at the universe staring back at you. Know that there's still time.
10. Affirmations for people with PMDD -
♡ I am safe, secure, and protected
♡ I am not alone in my struggles
♡ I am in control of my thoughts
♡ I will ask for help when I need it
♡ I have already survived my worst days
♡ I can embrace life's uncertainty
♡ My emotions don't define me
♡ My pain doesn't define me
♡ My struggles do not define me
♡ I know this pain will subside

" For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. "

this might be an odd question, but im writing a fic with a lot of mythological/magic elements and i was wondering if you use any resources/inspiration for the flora/fauna/magic rules in SIBOTM (or if you have any generally)?
thanks for the question, sorry for the wait!
as for resources and inspiration, i don't have any direct sources. i'm likely drawing from things i've read and seen throughout my life, but not consciously so. (i really really dislike research, so much of the stuff i come up with is purely imagination.)
for sibotm, i mostly researched biology of plants and animals (adaptations, behavior etc) so i had a basis to build on. and depending on the environment, the animals and plants changed.
the thing i keep in mind is that there's a food chain and various relationships between animals and plants. like the screaming deer and the deaf cats. cats hunt the deer, and developed deafness to lessen the effects of their scream, and a tremorsense to help with finding them.
the deer eat the bark off the velvet walking trees, traveling with them as the velvet trees seek out nutrients in the soil. other plants find it hard to grow where the earth is constantly plowed, so some evolved to grow directly on the trees. birds are seldom seen in the forests of the walking trees because the trees dislike the acids from their droppings. the tarantulas love the trees because they keep predators away etc etc etc.
the only direct references i've used so far are for the rock worms, melora, phasers, and tribbles (tremors movie, critical role wiki/books, star trek wiki respectively).
things i have been inspired by is mainly lotr with respect to the walking trees, only my trees aren't intelligent. they're just plants that move around according to their own needs and comfort.
the rest, if it shares aspects with other creatures/plants/worlds, it's not consciously done.
when it comes to magic, i generally keep a few questions in mind:
the source (what is it; where does it stem from; what is the price of using it; is there a price to not using it etc)
what can it do; what can't it do
can it bring back the dead (what is required; what are the consequences of going against a universal constant; do they come back whole, or do they come back wrong; is there a way to make sure it goes right etc)
who can wield it; who can't wield it
is it intrinsic or is it learned; if both, what is the difference
can it be thwarted/stopped/drained/stolen; if yes, how does one get it back, if at all
how does the use of magic impact culture and society (is it accepted; is it derided; why)
effects of magic on health (does it make one's health better or worse; does it affect those surrounding the user; does one need protection from magical effects on both sides (caster/audience))
this is not an exhaustive list, but a good starting point to spring off of.
i recommend looking at established systems in stories or games, or your favorite magic-oriented media to gain a sense of the parameters in their magic systems.
sorry i don't have more concrete answers. i hope this helps. 🥲 good luck with your fic!

By now, you probably know that 3D printed cosplay props are made from plastic, which produces quite a bit of waste. So, if you are an environmentally conscious cosplayer, it's only fair to ask what steps Dangerous Ladies is taking as a business to cut down on plastic waste, and what materials we are choosing in order to lessen our impact on the environment.
Here at Dangerous Ladies, we primarily print with Polylactic Acid (PLA) filament. PLA is a thermoplastic polyester that is derived from renewable resources. In our case, eSun PLA+ (our preferred filament) is manufactured with corn starch! This means it is biodegradable and recyclable.
You read that right. PLA is recyclable… but it has a catch!
Take a look at our blog on sustainability and cosplay on our website!

Maryland teen released just hours after arrest for breaking into 121 cars—17 break-ins happened next day

A teenager in Maryland was arrested for allegedly breaking into and looting 121 cars, only to be released from jail hours later. Although they have not been tied to the teen, there were over a dozen break-ins the day after his release in the same area. According to the New York Post, the 16-year-old male was arrested by Laurel Police last week after there had been dozens of calls reporting break-ins on May 4. The reported break-ins were all around Laurel County, as well as some in Prince George's County, as well as Howard County. Footage from various surveillance cameras was able to capture three teenagers going around the streets, smashing windows in order to take anything of value from the vehicles. Laurel Police Chief Russ Hamill told reporters, “They were just simply going through neighborhoods and targets of opportunity, breaking into cars. If there was something in there, they’d steal. If there was nothing in there, they’d move to another car." Police went to the home of one of the teenagers captured on video breaking into the cars, where they found credit cards, 20 car keys, as well as other valuables. Police were then able to "link him to all 121 events throughout the region,” Hamill said in a news conference.
he teenager, however, did not have anything else on his criminal record, was said not to be a flight risk, and he was let go because the break-ins only amounted to "lower-level crime."
“I would offer well over 100 cases in one night, gives you a pretty good record," Hamill said. "These were not violent crimes, as if that lessens the impact on those 121 victims.”
“Yes, five hours after we were at his house, he was released back into the community, back into the environment that allowed him to be out roaming the streets in all of these counties, late at night and in the early morning, doing these crimes to begin with,” the police chief said.

In their last term, The Supreme Court of the United States of America (SCOTUS), mainly the men, but occasionally Barrett showed the American people how little we are worth to them. They made it blatantly obvious that we are nothing more than serfs, subjugated, whose purpose is to pay taxes and STFU.
This was also made apparent with the reversal of Roe. The 2023-24 term had its share of long term dire consequences yet to be felt. The overturning of the Chevron doctrine was a devastating blow to the middle class/working poor. Its reversal will, at one time or another, affect the lives of 98% of Americans (the middle class, upper middle and working poor).
The right wing apparatus will tell you that regulations, protections, and limitations prohibit productivity which leads to less profits and in turn, a cooling of economic prosperity. What they aren’t divulging is the massive amounts of wealth they have amassed over the past 4 decades.
As far back as the Nixon administration, one could go back as far as the New Deal but, it’s a post, not a novel, certain restrictions, limitations, protective measures, and practices have been imposed on major corporations and industries. These regulations range from environmental protection, labor practices, safety standards, hazardous substances, banking practices, equal pay, the list goes on.
These regulatory agencies specialize in the field in which suits their skill set. Some call it the bureaucratic state. These non partisan civil servants work throughout changing administrations in their various fields without being inhibited by the views held by the party in power.
What the overturning of Chevron did is lessen the power that these agencies have. Putting the rules and regulations they enforced in peril. Now regulations created to protect the health and safety of Americans and the environment we live in, as well as the financial institutions and practices in which they can engage in, are put in peril.
The effects of this won’t be immediately noticeable. We are the frog in a warm pot of water, slowly being boiled to death. What does this have to do with Helene and future natural disasters one may ask?
Some of those regulatory agencies impacted by this reversal are, the EPA, FEMA, NOAA, the Department of Labor, OSHA, The FCC, the SEC, and so many more. Pretty much any agency that limits the exploitation these massive conglomerates and giant corporations can impose on Americans and the world they reside in.
We live in a time where the Supreme Court is rogue. With an extreme right wing MAGA majority, dead set on revoking rights as opposed to instilling them. A Supreme Court who, when scandals arose of lavish gifts coming from billionaire benefactors, rather than enforce a code of ethics they simply legalized bribery (Snyder vs the United States). A Supreme Court, so lawless and void of standards, that justices refuse to recuse themselves from constitutional crises cases, where they flew flags in support of the defendant, where the wife of another was in direct contact with the cheif of staff of a man who, while watching from the dining room of the White House, while a mob, led by his incendiary rhetoric ramshacked our capital. All the while chants of “hang Mike Pence, Hang Mike Pence” rang through the the halls of that hallowed ground. When told the mob wanted to hurt the Vice President, the defendant said, “So what”.
I’ve had tacos more supreme than this court! This November 5th, it is not a choice between a vile demented old man and a lifetime protector and prosecutor for the people, it is the direction, the safety, the environment, the lending practices, the food we eat, the wages we make, the lives our children will have that is the choice because. If Trump is elected, Alito as well as Thomas WILL retire, giving the mandarin Mussolini FIVE SCOTUS appointments. This will dictate the next 30 plus years of our lives. So please! Get out and vote! Vote the Harris Walz ticket and blue down ballot. The freedoms of women, LGBTQ rights, labor rights, environmental protections, food and drug safety, fair banking/lending practices, our federal lands, clean water, green energy for the future, so much hangs in the balance and the effects will be felt for a majority of the rest of our lives. We are one nation, indivisible, we stand for liberty and justice for all! ☮️🇺🇸
